In a 2018 ‘Remodeling Cost vs Value survey’ the average amount of money recouped from home renovations was 56% of the cost. While the amount varies on location and project type, the amount of payback from window and door replacements is much higher.
According to Remodeling Magazine, roof and window replacements yielded some of the best returns at 80% or more of the cost. Steel entry doors exceeded that, recouping 91.3% of the cost at resale. Additionally, external renovations have been on a consistent upward trend, while interior remodels show the opposite.
